The Director and Staff of the UWA Band.

Director of Bands: Glenn Smith

Smith attended LU in 1976 and he was a member of the Scarlet Band from Tiger Land. He left Livingston to attend the University of South Alabama and was a band director for many years in Washington County, Al. In 2001, Smith returned to UWA to become the Director of Bands and rebuild the once well respected and strong Scarlet Band from Tiger Land.

 Smith and his wife both attended LU in the 1970's and both their children, Destin and Colby attended UWA and were in the band.

Since 2001, Smith and his students have worked together to rebuild the band program to become a 85 to 90 member show band. Smith works very hard to bring in the best quality student/player that he can.

Smith, shown here in the 2006-2007 band camp, is very laid back. He treats everyone of his students like they are his own children. 

The UWA band is a family affair. After the first time you meet Mr. Smith and the UWA Band you find out very quickly that you have found a home and a family that will do just about anything for you.

Dustin Prine

Dusty marched with the Scarlet Band from fall 2000 to Spring 2005 when he graduated.  Dusty currently works for UWA as a Media Tech.

Prine works very closely with Mr. Smith and the band students to help improve the band program.
